The Yuxibu project seeks to protect 16.000 hectares of tropical forest and its ecosystems in the State of Acre, Brazil, through an initiative of the Nemus Agroforestry Company.

The project’s main objective is to prevent active deforestation in the area, and to maintain ecological biodiversity and native flora and fauna, including the following benefits:

  • Protection of rare and endemic species and key resources for species

  • Increase the connection for biological corridors

  • Promote courses and training in sustainable forest management for local families

  • Reinvest part of the income in local social and environmental actions

  • Create local jobs.

Project Yuxibu was certified by Canopee through a rigorous process that includes verification of ownership, lidar imaging, and many other required steps to evaluate and determine´the amount of carbon sequestered.
